Since 2004 Bass Coast Shire Council has been demonstrating climate change leadership through membership of the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia, a ground breaking program that helps local governments and their communities cut greenhouse gas emissions.     

Through this program Council has developed the Local Greenhouse Action plan 2006 which sets out specific emission reduction targets and defines various actions to reduce emissions.

We carry out projects in greenhouse gas abatement,  in sequestration and in adaptation on behalf of our Council members.
We work through partnerships involving Councils, community, industry and state and national government.  We look to involve as many groups within our communities as possible in responding to climate change.
